全自動釘箱機與半自動釘箱機所不同的是：其瓦楞紙板是自動送進的，由送紙機構把紙板折疊并送入釘箱部位進行釘箱，可 大地減輕操作時的勞動強度。而半自動釘箱機是由人工將紙板折疊并送進機頭釘箱的，操作勞動強度相對比較大。半自動釘箱機一般是臥式結構，分為單片式和雙片式釘箱機兩種類型，其中，單片釘箱機只能限于訂單片成型的紙箱，而雙片式釘箱機結構上比較復雜，其功能比較，既能夠訂單片紙箱又可以訂兩片成型的紙箱。
